Dr. Nayak brings expertise in several areas, including Diabetes Mellitus (both type 1 and type 2), weight management, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary disease, and metabolic disorders related to calcium and sodium. After earning his primary medical qualification, Dr. Nayak undertook his higher specialist training, which included a Clinical Research fellowship in the West Midlands. During this time spent training, Dr. Nayak earned his certificate of completion of his training. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Nayak was appointed Consultant at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust in 2013. Since his Consultant appointment, Dr. Nayak has contributed to improving various aspects of service at the trust, including the joint antenatal diabetes clinic. He also works alongside colleagues in the diabetes renal unit to help design effective patient pathways that include diabetes. Dr. Nayak is known for re-establishing the radioactive-iodine service for benign thyroid disease and is an ARSAC certified Consultant.
Dr. Nayak is also a keen researcher, having authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles in renowned clinical endocrine journals. He has been acknowledged by various endocrinology societies for his research and has presented his work at national and international conferences. He is also an advocate for medical education, regularly tutors medical students at Keele University and trainees at the Royal College of Physicians.
